About Wilton Manors

In 1924, Ned Willingham began purchasing parcels of land totaling 345 acres located on an island between the north and south forks of the Middle River.

By October 1925, the first plat of the new community, Wilton Manors, was drawn with most of the streets named after Native American tribes.

The "sales office" for this new 345 acre development opened for business in February 1926....... and the sales / development still continues here in our Island City!!

Recognized as a Village in 1947 and incorporated as a City in 1953, today the City of Wilton Manors offers all the benefits of a big city from shopping, to hip restaurants, bars, an emerging arts scene and tons of community events, yet still maintains a close knit / small town feeling offering miles of natural waterways perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, and other outdoor activities.

Recently named the “Second Gayest City” in the United States, the City of Wilton Manors celebrates a diverse population of approximately 12,000 residents.
